How We Ship Live Plants Safely from Florida

Mailing a living plant is very different from shipping an ordinary parcel, and we take it seriously. Here's exactly how your plants are prepared, packed, and sent so they arrive healthy and ready to thrive.

Where we ship from, and to

Orders ship fresh from Florida and California, which keeps transit times short across the country. We currently ship within the continental United States only, we do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, or international addresses. For live-plant orders we also can't ship to P.O. boxes.

Processing & timing

Orders are processed within 1-4 business days after payment. Whenever possible we ship early in the week (Monday-Wednesday) so plants don't sit in a warehouse over the weekend. Once your order is on its way, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number you can follow to your door.

How we pack live plants

  • The root ball and soil are secured so they stay put in transit.
  • Foliage is sleeved or cushioned to protect leaves and stems.
  • Boxes are clearly handled as perishable, living cargo.
  • Plants ship potted in their nursery pot with soil unless the listing notes otherwise.

Cold and hot weather

Weather is the biggest risk to a plant in transit. During cold weather, extra shipping protection may be recommended for your area, if so, just contact us before ordering and we'll advise on the safest way to ship to you. During extreme conditions (freezing temperatures, or heat above ~95°F), we may briefly hold your order to protect the plant, and we'll let you know if that affects your shipment.

Our 48-hour live-arrival guarantee

We stand behind every plant with a 48-hour live-arrival guarantee. If a plant arrives damaged, simply contact us within 48 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the plant and packaging, and we'll make it right with a replacement or refund. Full details are in our refund policy and shipping policy.

A quick note for new plant parents

It's normal for a plant to look a little travel-weary on arrival, a yellow lower leaf or some soil shift is nothing to worry about. Unbox it promptly, give it indirect light and a drink if the soil is dry, and let it settle for a week or two before repotting.
