Air Plants

Air plants (Tillandsia) break all the usual rules — they grow without any soil at all, drawing moisture and nutrients in through their leaves. That makes them wonderfully versatile for creative displays: tuck them into terrariums, mount them on wood or shells, nestle them in a dish, or simply set them on a shelf. They're conversation pieces as much as plants.

Care is easy once you know the rhythm: bright, indirect light and a good soak in water for 20–30 minutes about once a week (more often in dry or hot conditions), then shake off the excess and let them dry fully upside down so water doesn't collect in the center. That's really all there is to it — no pots, no soil, no repotting.
